Expository Preaching
Expository Preaching is the "communication of a biblical concept derived from and transmitted through a historical-grammatical and literary study of a passage in its context, which the Holy Spirit first applies to the personality and experience of the preacher then through him to hearers". Haddon Robinson, Biblical Preaching.
This book is a collection of expository sermons that I have written. Some of these had been preached on the Sunday service pulpit by me but others have not yet been preached before.
The primary objective of my book is to present the Truth of God by expounding the Word of God in a way that is enjoyable, memorable, interesting, understandable, meaningful and applicable to contemporary life. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness", 2 Timothy 3:16
This publication is my second book produced during the Covid 19 pandemic which started in February 2020 when Malaysia was and still is under a locked down. This is my legacy to my Koh Family Clan and subsequent generations to be treasured and read. It is my desire that lives be changed, corrected, convicted, deepened, transformed, matured, enriched and richly blessed through the message of the sermons.
I pray that readers will be motivated to develop a closer walk with God and to develop a love and passion for the inerrant and infallible Word of God. I also pray that readers will encounter the God of the Word through hearing of the Word of God. For "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God", Romans 10:17. The gospel was written that "you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in His name", John 20:31.
I wished to dedicate this book to my beloved wife, Wai Yin, my sons, Joseph, Joshua, Joel, my daughters-in-laws, Renee, Tina, Angelina, my grand sons Isaac, Benjamin, Daniel, Josiah, baby Jonathan, my grand daughters Giselle, Katherine, Annabelle, and Isabelle.
I wished to thank Pastor J V Zadok, moderator of St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Pengkalan, Ipoh, Dr Timothy Sng, author of several books and President of Paws (Poet, Artists, Writers and Song Writers) for Christ, Malaysia for their kind support and encouragement.
